Brown-Forman Marketing Manager, Ukraine & CIS in Ukraine
Who is Brown-Forman?
B-F’s business in Ukraine and CIS covers 11 markets. The business has significant growth opportunities for the long-term, but also faces high levels of VUCA to manage.
B-F has two of the top premium brands in these markets: Jack Daniel’s and Finlandia Vodka. We are also expanding and developing the Jack Daniel’s family of brands and super-premium whiskey.
We use a 3rd party RTC, working with 13 different distributor partners and collaborating with and influencing their sales & marketing teams. Ukraine is the largest market in B-F’s European & African alliance with Coca-Cola Hellenic.
The area is organized in two business units -- Ukraine and CIS -- each with a GM. B-F has a 7-person marketing team, including the Marketing Manager. Each distributor partner has its own brand managers assigned to the B-F business. The B-F Marketing team must engage and influence the distributor partners to gain fair share of attention and ensure alignment on plans & execution.
Meaningful Work From Day One
The UA/CIS Marketing Manager is the the most senior marketing leader for Ukraine & CIS. This position sets vision, objectives and strategies for B-F’s portfolio and brands across 11 markets. It is a key strategic thought partner to the Ukraine and CIS General Managers on portfolio strategy, business development & priorities, resource allocation and organization.
It officially reports to the Eurasia & IMEA Regional Marketing Director within our organization structure and sits on the regional marketing leadership team. In practice, it works hand-in-hand with the Ukraine & CIS General Managers and effectively reports to them.
It oversees a 6-person marketing team and plays a critical role in shaping the brand building strategies & plans and A&P resource allocation, ensuring quality control in all marketing activities, and coaching and developing people.
What You Can Expect
This position leads the marketing function for Ukraine & CIS. It has responsibility for the following:
Contributes to business results through portfolio strategy, resource allocation, end to end brand business planning process (including mid and long term planning), and excellence in execution.
Ensures brand stewardship across the marketing mix and across the Brown-Forman portfolio of brands. Champions brand initiatives internally and externally.
Supervises development and implementation of marketing plans for both the short and long term for all brands in the portfolio.
Ensures consistency of local brand activities & communication, within budget and in line with global brand strategies & standards and local business strategies and targets.
Identifies gaps and improves insight & knowledge for key brand building and business decision making. Evaluates current and future opportunities in the markets.
Ensures effective reporting and evaluation of marketing activities.
Develops the UA/CIS Marketing team and its people. Maintains an engaged & motivated team, in line with B-F values, with high standards, effective communication, and an orientation towards results.
Engages marketing partners within distributors and agencies to influence & ensure strong brand understanding & passion, high levels of attention, full execution of agreed plans & actions, and consistent compliance with B-F’s marketing & responsibility guidelines.
Builds and maintains effective partnerships. Cooperates and communicates effectively with local, regional and global B-F partners within marketing, cross-functional colleagues, local distributor partners, and marketing agencies.
Closely cooperates with other functions (commercial, supply chain, finance), sharing P&L management responsibilities
Effectively promotes and manages diversity & inclusion to drive ideas, constructive debate, and balanced decision making.
What You Bring to the Table
Years of progressive marketing and sales management experience, with experience across the marketing mix (traditional and digital advertising, PR, trade, advocacy)
Strong business acumen and professional knowledge of on and off trade channels
Passion for brand building and the ability to inspire and motivate others
Ability to turn data and observations into insight.
Influential communicator who motivates a variety of stakeholders to achieve results. Able to put across a point of view convincingly and supported by evidence, whether verbally, in presentation design, or white papers.
Ability to prioritize activities and manage time & projects effectively in a complex business environment to achieve long term objectives. Identify, evaluate and implement new opportunities
A team player who collaborates effectively to get desired results
Prior experience in American or European companies
Active and successful marketing experience in food, beverage, or image-based consumer products
Agile learner with excellent analytical, innovative and conceptual skills. P&L understanding
Fluent English and Russian – written and verbal
Must be willing to travel (approx. 40-50% of the time)*
